hominidae automaton, mixed materials, 2019

As new discoveries are made and new classification systems arise new groups of hominidae are given a name and a description. As some seem to have comparable body shapes and brain size to our own it might have been sheer luck that brought our survival and their extinction. In this work I reimagined some of them as fancily dressed robots keeping some of their key features (like the small stature fot the Homo Florienses). In doing so the past meets the future as evolution can be line as much as a circle. The sculpture are from 2 meters to 40cm long and are made with recycled materials.
