ART MEETS SCIENCE
Giulia Mezza's practice bridges scientific approaches to artistic aesthetics. Born in 1995 from a family of teachers, since childhood she had a great interest in school subjects and education as a whole. After a scientific High School Degree she pursued an academic path in the realm of Chemistry receiving a Master's Degree in 2020 while keeping her art practices self taught. However, in 2024 she received a Master's Degree in Sculpture and Visual Arts that shaped her artistic mindset into becoming more professional. Her projects and topics of research are quite unique as she approaches every art project with the meticulousness of a researcher working in a laboratory. The tools she uses are also quite unordinary: petri dishes, parafilm, pH indicators, thermochromic inks, beckers and laboratory equipment to create scientific illustrations, installations of performances. The analitical approach and clinical eye of the artist along with her logical mindset set her apart from many of her peers making her contribution to the art field incredibly valuable.
